The air conditioning system constitutes potential danger. At its service observance of certain rules is required. Air conditioning system has to be served by the technicians trained in safe working methods with use of the appropriate equipment and observance of rules of depressurization, collecting and storage of automobile coolants.
The air conditioning system is under pressure therefore do not open a contour of cooling of air conditioning system until coolant is pumped out.
Do not allow contact of coolant with skin.
During the work near air conditioning system put on goggles.
At hit of coolant on skin or in eyes do not pound the struck place, immediately wash out cold water not less than 15 min. and see a doctor. Self-treatment is not allowed.
Coolant is stored in a new cylinder under pressure.
You store a cylinder at a temperature not above 50 °C. Take the measures excluding falling of a cylinder about heights or other situations which can lead to its damage.
Works should be performed in well aired room. Coolant quickly evaporates, interferes with access of oxygen and complicates breath.
Gaseous coolant is heavier than air and rather quickly gathers below, for example, in osmotrovy ditches.
Coolant not горюч, however at contact of coolant with a flame or the heated objects is emitted poisonous gas. You store coolant far from open sources of fire. You do not smoke. When using an ardent techeiskatel avoid smoke inhalation.
When carrying out welding works near the air conditioning system always pump out from it coolant. Electric welding near pipelines with coolant can cause decomposition of coolant under the influence of ultra-violet radiation.
Do not subject air conditioning system detail to influence of high temperature or an open flame. The overheat can lead to increase in pressure in system and depressurization.
Cleaning of the condenser or evaporator by means of hot water vapor is not allowed, it is necessary to use only cold water or compressed air.
Basic distinctions in properties of coolants R-134a and R-12 demand air conditioning systems, various on design, for each type of coolant. Mixing of coolants R-134a and R-12 even in insignificant quantities as it will lead to failure of air conditioning system is not allowed. Mixing of the oils intended for various air conditioning systems also leads to failure of the compressor of the conditioner. It is necessary to use sealing rings which are intended only for the applied coolant as R-134a coolant destroys sealing rings for R-12 coolant, and the contour will become depressurized.
Air conditioning system refuels R-134a coolant. Details of system are under the high working pressure of coolant: at high temperature of air this pressure can reach 50 bars. A source of the increased danger at service of system by unprepared technicians and when using the equipment which is not intended for this purpose is the high pressure and chemical influence of coolant.
In order that the air conditioning system worked with maximum efficiency, execute the following:
– check a condition of a belt of the drive of the compressor of the conditioner. With wear and damages replace a belt;
– check a tension of a belt of the drive of the compressor of the conditioner and if necessary, adjust it;
– check a condition of tubes and hoses of the air conditioning system. In the presence of cracks, swellings, stratifications or the unreliable connections leading to leaks replace them;
– check a condition of the condenser. If the external surface of the condenser is polluted by leaves and other foreign inclusions clear the condenser, using a brush and compressed air;
– be convinced that coolant level in a contour of the air conditioning system corresponds to demanded;

– if noise of water is heard or water drips on a floor carpet, check purity of a drainage tube of a casing of the evaporator (fig. 4.31) . If necessary a soft wire clear a drainage tube.
To ensure no-failure operation of the air conditioning system during the long period of operation, include it at least for 5–10 min. at least one-two times a month. It is especially important within winter months as at air temperature below 0 °C removal of condensate from glasses accelerates.
One of the most general causes of infringement of operability of air conditioning system is the low level of coolant in system.
